How to choose what kind of wheelchair you need...
If you are looking for wheelchair hire, most people think of a self-propel wheelchair.
Self propel wheelchairs have larger 'bicycle style' wheels at the back with a large hoop or rim fixed on the outside. This rim is to enable the user to propel themselves without the need for anyone to push them.
Self propel wheelchairs can still be used as an attendant push wheelchair, but they don't have brake controls on the handle grips. Our self propel wheelchair has quick release rear wheels to make transportation easier.
The brakes are applied by the user controlling the rear wheels from the rim, whilst locking or parking brakes can still be applied when stationery.
